Cindy Crawford Shares Her Best Beauty Advice and Dishes on Her Favorite Products – InStyle

Cindy Crawford turned 50 last week, and of course our first thought was, what is her secret? The woman looks absolutely incredible and proves that age truly is nothing but a number. So perhaps it’s also no surprise that after more than three decades of modeling, Crawford has some pretty insightful advice and savvy tips to not only help you look good, but feel beautiful, too. Check out her arsenal here, plus the tricks she’s passing on to her mini-me model daughter, 14-year-old Kaia Gerber.

So we have to ask: What’s your secret to looking (and feeling) fantastic, at every age?
I think people always want that quick fix, but to me it’s about consistency. I didn’t just start working out; I began when I was 20. Working out, getting enough sleep, not smoking—all of these things are cumulative. You may not see those results in a week or even a month, but in a year, and with consistency, you will. It’s about maintenance. That’s my approach on how to handle aging. I do the best I can to maintain. I’m not the girl I was 30 years ago; it’s about moving forward gracefully and still feeling good about myself.

What’s your favorite beauty tip?
My friend and makeup artist, Sonia Kashuk really got me into skin oils. Don’t be afraid to use one under makeup. It helps it go on smoothly and it gives a glow to the skin. I thought an oil would cause makeup to slide off, but Sonia has a nice way of applying it: She puts it on fingertips and presses it into the skin on the high points of the face. I love Meaningful Beauty’s new oil (launching in March, $ 50; meaningfulbeauty.com).

What are your makeup must-haves?
I love Guerlain’s foundation (Terracotta Skin Cream Powder Foundation, $ 58; sephora.com). It feels almost like a mousse but it gives some color. It’s like a tinted moisturizer and it never feels heavy. It looks like skin. It’s great for running out of the house quickly. I also love Josie Maran’s stick blush (Argan Color Stick, $ 22; josiemaran.com); I just apply a little with a brush. You can top it with the Meaningful Beauty Glow Serum ($ 44; ulta.com) to get that dewy look. I also like a soft eyeshadow on my eyes if I go out at night. Charlotte Tilbury makes it easy, I like how she does her eyeshadow palette (Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette in the Sophisticate, $ 52; charlottetilbury.com) and how she breaks up the colors. I think it takes out some of the intimidation.

Did you make any resolutions for 2016?
I’m trying to be kinder to my hair and not heat styling it so much. When I got back from the holidays, I cut off five inches off my hair and since then, I’ve been letting it air dry more. I like to add a little leave-in conditioner, my current favorite is Living Proof’s version (Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment, $ 27; sephora.com). I apply it and then I let my hair dry naturally.

Do you have any advice for your younger self?
Wearing sunscreen is so important, as is taking off your makeup at night. Now, I always wear sunscreen (Crawford uses Meaningful Beauty Antioxidant Day Creme SPF20, $ 40; ulta.com) and a big hat. As for makeup, I was always more interested in putting it on than taking it off, but now I remind Kaia to take off her makeup every night.
