Deepika Padukone’s makeup artist lets you in on some beauty secrets – India Today

Deepika PadukoneMakeup artist Anil Chinnappa has been working with Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone for the longest time.

Celebrity makeup artist Anil Chinnappa shares professional beauty secrets for this season’s bride.

Q: What inspired you towards a career in makeup?

I would say moving on from CA studies to eventually being associated with fashion. It began by assisting Cory Walia on hair for backstage, later working with Jojo for international shows and training, and building my own collection of international second-hand fashion magazines–my biggest inspiration back then!

Q: The difference in makeup for models, actors, and brides?

While runways are inspired by designer collections, movies are always character-driven where the makeup mustn’t overshadow the performance of an actor. And, bridal makeup is real and specific to the event and of course, one’s features.

Q: How do you voluminise and get height without backcombing hair?

It’s really simple, just crimp sections of hair close to the scalp, without using products. Crimping creates texture and lends volume. Then, take the front sections and comb back.

Q: Your makeup philosophy?

Keep the skin dewy to keep it hydrated. Less is more, so make your makeup look real, and allow the imperfections to show, that’s true beauty! Makeup must always be subtle, only highlight one aspect by using the right product to enhance the features.

Q: Your signature style?

Soft touches, no defined or sharp lines. I like contouring eyelids–it makes eyes appear bigger and creates a 3D shape. Shading gives one a dreamy look.

Q: Bridal must-haves?

I love Benefit for its tints and mascara, Bobbi Brown for its eyeshadows and foundations, and finally, Chanel for its lip and nail colours!
