Social Studies: Beauty advice; Put some thought into it – Boston Herald

When the going gets tough, the tough get meditating. Or at least they did last night at Pyara Spa & Salon in Cambridge.

The beauty oasis hosted meditation expert Casey Supple for an “Evening of Balance.”

Spa owner Christine Perkins kicked things off with a chat about Ayurvedic beauty techniques, then Supple walked guests through a simple five-minute meditation, talking about the positive effects a daily practice can have on life and a beauty regime.

“Meditating increases your self-awareness, which means you make more nurturing choices,” Supple said.

“The physical effect of that is you’re more thoughtful about what you put in and on your body, which will make for a healthier body — inside and out,” Supple added.

Om-ing guys and gals also enjoyed juice samplings from Nourish Your Soul and Aveda mini-treatments from the spa.
