Following in the footsteps of Harper’s Bazaar’s legendary editor Diana Vreeland, couturier Suneet Varma shares his lifestyle tips for this month.

…have fun with fashion. Buy inexpensive clothes, wear them with style, and make them look good. Price tags will never buy you great style….dress up for a date with yourself. Enjoy fine wine, great food, and the best possible company-yourself!

…empty your closet of items you don’t and won’t wear-clothes should have an expiry date like milk and bread.

…figure out the age when you were the happiest and decide to stay that age mentally.

…visit flea markets, rummage through the wares to find the coolest vintage clothes and accessories, and mix them with your current wardrobe. It’s the best way to always stand apart and have original style.

…surprise yourself by wearing mismatched colours and clothes. The best fashion rule is that there are no rules.

…give yourself a year to learn something new-a language, painting, how to cut hair, to sing. To learn is to grow.

…invest in a couple of great pairs of reading glasses, from formal to quirky. They frame your eyes, which are the windows to your soul.

…turn to natural remedies for a super healthy glow and life. Have a teaspoon of turmeric in warm water every day first thing in the morning. It’s the elixir of youth.

…decide the favourite decade of your life and read up on everything about that decade, from fashion to movies to politics. It’s pretty cool to be well-versed with your favourite times.

…visit the perfume (ittar) shops in Old Delhi and make your own fragrance just for you. You can mix jasmine with mint and other secret ointments for very little money, and you will be the only one who will have that fragrance that works like magic with your skin oils. And the experience will be priceless !

… read fashion blogs of young Scandinavian bloggers. It’s some of the trendiest advice coming from that part of the world.

…for the coming winters decide to get some fab leather or suede pants; they are super sexy and feel luscious against the skin.
