JENNINGS, Mo. – 150 vice presidents of a multi-billion dollar company spent the day with local middle and high school students at Jennings High School. The Jennings School District’s academic success played a role in drawing the pharmaceutical company, Express Scripts, there.

Superintendent Dr. Art McCoy says Jennings has a 100 percent graduation rate among other accomplishments. On Friday, Tim Wentworth, CEO of Express Scripts, talked to students about how to continue to be successful.

“As they form their goals and objectives and realize they can do anything, it’s really important they hear that others believe in them and have done that,” Wentworth said.

“When successful people like them reach out to kids like us, we should take advantage of that and listen to what they’re telling us,” Jennings High School junior Lakayline Davis said.

Just last Saturday, McCoy started a GoFundMe account with a goal of $ 10,000 so that a group of students would be able to tour five colleges out of state. During the assembly, Express Scripts surprised the school district with a $ 25,000 check.

“They saw that GoFundMe account and the message and said, ‘You don’t have to continue to do this. We’re going to make it possible for Spelman and Morehouse and you go and make sure your students learn up,'” McCoy said. “So we’re so delighted and so thankful to Express Scripts for making this trip possible.”

Students showed their appreciation by giving the company a few pieces of handmade art. They then painted ceiling tiles together to help beautify the schools.
