Pharmaceutical group looks to settle in Middletown.

Brining more business to Middletown, while also giving the state a shot in the arm economically is behind brining a pharmaceutical manufacturing company to the town.

Datwyler develops, designs and manufactures pharmaceutical packaging products, and company officials say they would bring up to 120 new jobs by 2025, if Town Council approves the project.

They will present a plan to the council as early as next month.

“We’ve worked really hard with the state, with the governor to be able to get the economic development growth here in town. It is a big plus. We look at the big picture. It’s not just for Middletown, but it’s for jobs. It will help support what we’re doing, but it will help the general area statewide also on the economic development side,” said Middletown Mayor Ken Branner.

Officials from the Datwyler Group say they settled on Middletown after looking around the country to set up a new facility. They already have one in Pennsauken, New Jersey, and they’re based in Europe.

“It’s big for Middletown, we’re committed to economic development,” said Branner. It is a clean pharmaceutical manufacturing group. We’re tickled to death to get them here. We worked so hard along with state to get them here. They’re going to be great It’s going to be a good fit for Middletown.

If approved, the Datwyler’s facility would be right next to Amazon.
