Insanity Drug ‘Flakka’ Can Kill with One Dose, Experts Warn – Highlight Press
A new designer drug deemed more dangerous and wholly more terrifying than crystal meth is sweeping certain regions of the United States. In Florida in particular, ‘flakka’ has been directly linked with a series of bizarre and worrying incidents, including a naked man waving a gun in blind rage while atop a building in Fort Lauderdale.
Often referred to as ‘gravel’, flakka burst onto the scene in the United States last summer when supplies peaked and the price of a hit plummeted below the $ 5 mark. Now, experts have spoken with growing concern over the potentially lethal side-effects of the drug, which are known to include excessively aggressive behavior, horrific hallucinations and severe paranoia. In addition, users are urged to seek help in a recovery center before it’s too late. Flakka’s effects on the body include a sudden and enormous spike in body temperature which can lead to series and perhaps even fatal kidney damage.
The low price and widespread availability of flakka has Florida authorities worried that more violent and criminal incidents will occur this year than 2014’s record-high of 670 reported crimes. Known in some circles as $ 5 insanity, flakka is similar in many ways to crystal meth and delivers an immediate hit of euphoria which is known to send the respective user into a state of uncontrollable delirium.
A single dose of the drug has the potential to be fatal, authorities are warning.
