Firefighter Rip Esselstyn shows some of the non-froo froo low fat vegan recipes from his new book. Austin Texas firefighter, Rip Esselstyn, made a bet with a fellow firefighter, JT: if JT would just eat the way Rip ate for 28 days, then JT’s cholesterol would come down from 364 to 150. JT’s father and grandfather had both died in their 50s from heart attacks, so bringing JT’s cholesterol down was crucial for him . Rip won the bet — and saved JT’s life. Look at the food the all the guys in the fire house in Austin are eating now — then get a copy of Rip’s book and start eating this way yourself: secure2.vegsource.com

This book took me to the vegan lifestyle after about a year of being vegetarian. My young kids eat this stuff too! I would recommend watching his fathers research and documentary Forks Over Knives.

I just started the low fat vegan diet and am getting great results. My blood sugar dropped almost instantly and my mom, who is a diabetic, is seeing results as well. Finally, I found a lifestyle and not a fad diet. It’s yummy and exciting!!

These recipes look delicious. I just want to add that when it comes to corn and soy please get the organic as to avoid Genetically modified food. If you want more info on this check out Jefferey Smith here on the ytube.

    Great methods.
    Not ” recipes. ”
Recipes are for folks who don’t know how to cook. This man cearly DOES.
I will be buying a copy of this wonderful cook-book.
Looks like THREE people will not be buying it ……. or eating REAL food …… or taking care of their bodies, their health …… Awwww……. Enjoy your Kentucky Fried Ca-ca. See you at the cardiac rehab. Oh ! RIGHT ! I will NOT be seeing you there.
I shall be cooking or having sex ( Get it up, lately …. ? ) Here’s To LIFE !!!!!!!

@progrocker69 100% agree. I went to Dr. McDougall’s 10 day live in program back in August and it changed me forever. I had a piece of prime rib for Christmas dinner and felt terrible!

I love that he addresses that athletes can eat vegetarian. I get harassed about that weekly. Great stuff. And Rip is a rather, um, attractive deliverer of the message 🙂

Man, the most delicious recipe here is not in the diet, but Mr. Rip Esselstyn himself! He’s also visually appetising and beautiful too!

Outstanding recipe ideas, as are the ones on the DrMcDougall website and in Dr. McDougall’s books.

You eat this way for a while and then try going back to ANY processed food and it tastes like eating old tires. I had a couple of Chips Ahoy cookies, one each of two varieties, the other day and I swear they tasted like lab chemicals and sugar. Disgusting.
