Angelina Jolie’s makeup artist spills her beauty secrets 12:00PM – Glamour.com

Love Angelina Jolie‘s smouldering red carpet makeup looks or enamoured by her transformation for new movie Maleficent? Meet the woman behind them both – Angelina’s personal makeup artist, Toni G.

We sat down with Toni to hear what it took to turn Angelina into the Disney’s Mistress of All Evil, and score some tips we can use for our own beauty routine.

GLAMOUR: You’ve worked with Angelina Jolie for many years, how did you first meet?

TONI G: We first met on set of The Good Shepherd, I was hired by production to do her makeup for the film.

G: Angelina has a dark and dramatic beauty look in Maleficent – how did you settle on the final look?

T: We were truly inspired by the Maleficent character – her elegance, sharp features and glamour. We fused old Hollywood and modern beauty without being too theatrical; it just seemed to naturally fit her character.

G: Angelina’s lips and eyes are her beauty signatures – how can we enhance our own for a similar effect?

The MAC Maleficent collection has all the essential shades needed to achieve these dramatic features. It’s important to curl lashes well before starting eye makeup, then use eye liner on the lower and upper lid, pulling it to meet on the outside corner of eye. The more space in this “V shape”, the larger and more dramatic the eye will be. Fill in with shadows, then soften and blend.

G: Are there any beauty or skincare products that Angelina particularly likes?

T: We both love the Clarisonic for keeping the skin fresh.

G: Can you share a few tips on how to best look after our skin on a daily basis?

T: Of course what we put into our body makes a huge difference, organic juices and smoothies daily bring a glow to your skin, providing it isn’t over shadowed with unhealthy foods like bacon, sugar and too much coffee. I love my coffee, but it makes a huge difference when I don’t drink it.

As far as skincare, find products that work best with your skin type; cleanser, toner, moisturiser, sunscreen and use the Clarisonic with your cleanser.

Malificent is out in cinemas on 30 May
