For years, Jennifer Aniston has been the symbol of the svelte, gracefully aging woman that most aspire to be. Now the 46-year-old award-winning actress shares what it really takes to keep a fit body like hers throughout her acting career. Like any other fitness regimen, Aniston’s is a combination of both a proper diet and exercise. She also does not miss out on the most important meal of the day: breakfast, People reports.

“Sometimes it’s a smoothie—bananas, cherries, a protein powder of some sort, almonds, cacao powder, and all sorts of other weird antioxidant stuff I can’t remember—with almond milk,” Aniston told Bon Appetit. “Other times I have eggs over-easy—I crack them into a bowl and I’ll add a white or two into that and pour it all into the pan to get more protein sans too much yolk age. I’ll have that with avocado toast sprinkled with olive oil and salt and pepper. The other option is oatmeal with egg whites whipped into it right at the end.”

Elle reports that Aniston also takes warm water with lemon first thing in the morning to detox. She highly encourages drinking a lot of water, highlighting its importance and saying that a lot of people have become “water lazy.” She carries around 23 ounces of water and makes sure to consume two to three bottles full every day to keep herself hydrated. As per the rest of her meals, she keeps it low-carb with a lot of protein and vegetables. Hollywood Take reports that she enjoys brown-rice bread with a little coconut oil seasoned with sea salt.

But don’t be fooled, as the actress admits to sometimes indulging in a midnight snack in the form of frozen yogurt in vanilla, chocolate, or coffee flavors topped with granola.

Of course, Aniston’s diet is paired with proper exercise, and that comes in the form of yoga. Shape reports that she enjoys doing yoga with her friend and yoga teacher and wellness advisor Mandy Ingber, who also trains with Kate Beckinsale, among other Hollywood celebrities. Aniston has been working with Ingber since 2005, doing yoga three to four days a week.

“Part of why Jennifer looks so awesome is her balance. She’s a balance of having strength, being toned, and being lean—beautiful but natural,” Ingber revealed. “She works hard, but you also see her taking care of herself. She’s a career woman and a relationship person. We should have balance in all aspects of our lives! Always address all aspects of who you are.”

Because Aniston travels a lot, she also brings eight-pound weights so she can take the opportunity to do arm exercises. She also does stretches and some sit-ups before bed, as per Women’s Health. But striking a balance is also important, as the actress says that one needs to listen to their body on days that working out just doesn’t feel like an option.
