Spring time is a challenging time of year to get it right style wise.

Its sometimes hard to know when to put away the tights, coats and heavy sweaters when the weather is warm and sunny one day, then chilly and grey the next.

The Royal Gazette Lifestyle section asked a handful of well-dressed women their advice on how to transition a wardrobe from winter to spring, for this weeks Fashion On The Street column.

Claire York, 39, will often pick out what shes wearing based on what it looks like outside.

She said: I pick out pieces that suit my mood that day. But I also look at the weather here as well because its very different from the weather in the UK.

If its cooler, I will pick a blazer or if its nicer I would probably wear a dress.

Ms York, a visitor to the Island, said she liked to mix designer pieces from labels like Karen Millen, with other pieces from high street shops like H & M and Coast.

When shes back home in England she tends to be more wrapped up, but when shes in Bermuda she can pull out more summer pieces.

At this time of year I like to wear corals, picks and reds, she said.

One 25-year-old portfolio analyst described her normal style as classy and simple.

But when it comes to transitioning her wardrobe from winter to spring, she tends to pick pieces in lighter colours.

For me I just love dresses so its always going to be a simple dress in a solid colour paired with a simple cardigan or a printed cardigan like this one. I also like a pop of colour for the lips or shoes.

I wear dresses all year round, so when spring comes around I usually stop wearing stalkings and might add some more colours.

I also tend to wear pastel colours and might choose a pastel cardigan or sometimes a blazer, depending on the day.

For hairdresser Meghan DeSilva, she tries to be versatile with her style no matter what the season.

I kind of have a lot of styles, she said. I just prefer to wear something that shows my creativity. I am very creative with my hands and what I do for work, so I try to show that off by what I wear.

One piece of advice I got was to dress for the position you want, not the position you have, so I try my best to look professional.

The 26-year-old said she tends to get fashion inspiration from magazines.

She also admires the style of fearless women like Chloe Kardashian, who dresses based on what she feels like wearing in that moment.

In order to transition her wardrobe from winter to spring, Ms DeSilva starts wearing less coats and jackets and might move to three-quarter length shirts. But she usually still wears long pants until the summer creeps around.

The colours change, so I go from dark to lighter pieces, she said. Also the materials might go from thick to thinner.
